"She's perfect" The Doctor said wiping her eyes
"Of course she is..hi sweetie..hi..oh this is so weird" I said laughing,looking down at my daughter
"It's like there's an elephant in the room" Blake whispered in my ear,laughing through his tears
"We need to fill out the birth certificate" The Nurse said
"Pushy. ain't she?" Annie muttered under her breath
"I know, at least wait for the kid to open her eyes" Jen muttered back
"Name?" The Nurse asked again
"Lennon Madelyn Jennifer Rachel Anna Reef Distefino Capone" I said
( i gave her my grandmother's last name because no one can prounouce it and beside it just fit)
"You can fit all that on one birth certificate?" Annie asked
"If we write small enough" The Nurse said leaving
"Why did you give her 6 middle names?" Blake asked
"Because each of those names represents a person whom i love" I couldn't stop crying,"Do you wanna hold her?" I said
"I might drop her" Blake said
"No you won't" I handed the baby to him
"She's so light," He whispered then passed the baby to Annie, who was sobbing and soon the baby was being passed around.
That night, I refused to put her in the nursery because i just couldn't stop staring at her round little face.
The Next Day We got a surprise visitor.
The baby had fallen asleep in my arms and Blake and I were watching tv, the girls had gone home to get some sleep and change they would be coming back later. there was a knock at the door, figuring it was Annie Rachel or Jen, I called
"ComeIn" When the person poked his head through the door, i almost dropped the baby
it was John!
"Uh hello?" He sounded uncertain
"Hi" I said stunned." What are you doing here?"
"Always with the questions, I came to see the baby" John stood in the doorway
"Blake, take the baby back to the nursery" I said handing the baby to him
"Hey Blake,what's going on?" John said
"Hi nothing See ya" Blake said making his escape
"Enough with the formalities, what are you doing here?" I wanted to know
"She's my daughter I have a right to see her" He said still standing in the doorway
"You gave up that right when you left me" I said starting to cry
"I'm sorry" John said
"Get out" I said
"What?" He couldn't believe it
"I can't do this right now, i just had a baby,get out and come back later" I said putting my head on the pillow and closing my eyes.
"Alright" He left
BLAKE .
I couldn't believe it when John showed up out of nowwhere, I made my escape with the baby because i knew Nikki wanted to yell at him and doing it in front of Lennon would just be wrong, So i took the baby to the nursery and rocked her in the rocking chair until she fell asleep and i put her in the mini-crib.
I stood outside of the nursery, just watching her, she was so amazing.
"Hey" John's voice said from behind me
"Hey" I turned around
<FONTFACE=ARIAL size="3">"Can we just talk?, Without you hitting me, although i probably deserve it" He seemed so sincere
"Ok" I agreed and we went down to the Cafeteria
"Why did you come back?" I wanted to know sitting down at a table
"Because I realized how stupid i was when i left and i realized what i'd be missing if i stayed out of the picture" He looked as if he were ready to cry
"Do you know what Nikki's been through in the last nine months?" I said sipping my coffee
"I can imagine" He said
"No you can't, She was in a horrible wreck,she nearly died twice, she nearly lost the baby,she's been through so much and you come back as if nothing happened" I was getting angry
"Look, I screwed up but i want, no i need to be apart of my daughter's life, Will you at least talk to her?" He asked
"I 'll try but i make no promises" I said
"Thank you" He sounded so relieved
"But if you try to the baby away from us, so help me god.i'll hunt you down to the end's of the earth, you got me?" I said
He nodded
Nikki's
I realized how big of a bitch i could have been and just told John to get lost but i felt in my heart that my daughter should get to know her father.
We had a steady stream of vistors over the next few days, My mom came down and was amazed that Lennon didn't inherent the red hair every baby in our family was born with.
Then my cousin and her daughter came in.
I was sitting on the hospital bed,giving Lennon a bottle, when I heard a knock on the door
"Come In?" I called
"Hi!" Ali said
"Hey" Stacey said
"Hi you guys" I said kissingAli on the cheek, as she climbed on the bed."Lennon, this is you're cousin Ali"
"Wow,she's so tiny" Ali was amazed
"Well you were once this size too, you know" I said
"Really?" Ali's eyes widened
"Yup" I said,"Stace, do you want to hold her?"
"Are you sure?" She asked
"Of course" I replied handing the baby to her
"Hello Lennon, Hello" Stacey started to pace back and forth,"Ali, do you wanna sing the baby a song?"
Alinodded,"Which one, Mama?"
"How about Winnie the Pooh?" Stacey suggested
"YES!" Ali jumped
"Ok, Are you ready?" Stacey said, Ali nodded
They both started singing
" Christopher Robin and I walked along
Under branches lit up by the moon
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore
As our days disappeared all too soon
But I've wandered much further today than I should
And I can't seem to find my way back to the Wood so help me if you can
I've got to get back To the House at Pooh Corner by one
You'd be surprised There's so much to be done"Stacey stopped singing for a second
"C'mon Nik, you remember the song..Auntie used to sing it to us all the time" Stacey said
"I remember" I said smiling,then started to sing with them "Winnie the Pooh doesn't know what to do Got a honey jar stuck on his nose
He came to me asking help and advice And from here no one knows where he goes"
"You did so good Ali!" I said
"Nik, Look Look" Stacey said walking toward me,"Look"
It was Lennon's first smile
"Can I hold her,Auntie please?" Ali asked
"Sure but you have to sit in the chair and don't jiggle her ok?" I said as Stacey placed the baby in Ali''s arms
"Whoa, this so cool!" Ali said kissing Lennon on her head
"Auntie was here?" Stacey asked
"Yeah,long enough to chew me out for having an illegitimate child"I said rolling my eyes
"Ah" Stacey nodded
Ali and Stacey left soon after and then it was just me and Lennon.
"Hi Lennon Hi, hello my dear girl, i'm you're mommy, yes" I said and she yawned,"my tired girl,yes"
"Uh Nik?" A voice said,startling me, i looked up and realized it was John
"What are you doing here?" I asked
"Well, I came back to talk to you and since i figured your bodyguard had to go back to work eventually, this was the only time i could get to talk to you alone" He said standing in the doorway
"You can come in" I said
"Ok" He said edging toward the bed,"Can I hold her?" he asked timidly
I nodded, handing him the baby,"Hold her head,hold her head"
"Wow..this is my daughter.." He said nervously
"Amazing, isn't she?" I said kissing her forehead
"I don't even know her and i already love her" He said
"i have to know something..and please answer me" I asked
He nodded
"Why did you come back? I mean after everything that went down, you left us and then you show up unexpectedly..why?" I asked
"You have to understand, when you told me you were pregnant, i got scared, i didn't know anything about raising kids, hell, i still am one" He said
"I want to let you back in our lives, but you hurt me so much, Do you know the day i found out we were having a girl, i just kept wondering how i was going to explain to our daughter that her father abandon her" I said getting angry
"I'm here, you don't have to worry about that"He said giving the baby back to me
"I won't marry you, i don't to disrupt Lennon's life with promisesthat won't be kept, it's not just about me anymore, it's about her" I said
"I understand" He nodded
"Good" I sniffled
"Can i ask you one question, though?" He said
"Sure"
"Why Lennon? you aren't a big Beatle fan and weren't even alive when John Lennon was killed, why that name?"John laughed
"Because when the nurse wrapped her in the blanket and put her in my arms for the first time, it looked like she was wearing a little cape and since that's what Lennon means, it fit" I smiled.
We stayed in the Hospital for a few extra days, mainly because they wanted to make sure Lennon hadn't gotten any unforseen trauma from the car accident and when they found no trauma, just a healthy infant, they kicked us the HELL out!
Because i had gone into labor the week before christmas and had to stay in the hospital durning christmas, We decided to celebrate Lennon's first christmas a week later.
When we got home from the hospital, from the car i could see through our big picture window, A big christmas tree filled to the brim with presents and a colorful sign that said "WELCOME HOME LENNON"
I had barely gotten out of the car when John shoved a camera in my face
"HI MOMMY" he shouted
"Daddy better turn the camera off before Mommy kills him" I said putting my hand over the lens and going into the house
"What's her problem?" John asked Blake who was trying to get the carseat out of car
"Hormones and the fact if you wake up the baby, she'll never go back to sleep" Blake said, maneuvering the carseat up the stairs.
Before i got into the Hall, Jen put her hands over my eyes
"What are you-?" I asked
"We have a surprise for you" Jen said
"You guys have done enough" I said
"Well this one is more for Lennon than for you" Jen said shoving me forward with her hands still covering my eyes,"Are you ready?"
"YES!" I shouted
"Here you go," uncovering my eyes, i looked around until i saw my surprise sitting in a rocking chair
It was Catie!
"Oh my god!" I said running overto the chair and hugging her
"Nikki!"Catie laughed
"What are you doing here?" I asked
"Well i heard you had a baby and wanted to see for myself" Catie said
Catie had been in Milan while i had been pregnant and couldn't come to the shower
"Here she is!" Blake said bringing the baby into the living room
"Oh look ,she's so beautiful" Catie said kneeling down to the carseat's level
"Thank you" I said,"Do you wanna hold her?"
"Of course" Catie picked her up, Lennon whimpered but stayed asleep
"I know she's John's child too but she's pure you" Catie said
"Ya think? " I asked
"Of course, she's a mini-you" Catie laughed as the baby began to cry
"Oh someone is so tired..Oh Come on baby, let's get you into you'r room..yes" I said talking to the baby,taking her from Catie's arms and bringing her up the stairs
While I was upstairs,Blake and Catie caught up on each other's lives
"Can you believe she's a mom?" Catie said
BLAKE'S P.O.V
When we brought Lennon home from the hospital, I knew Catie would be waiting for us, We'd been planning it for days because we knew how much Nikki had missed her while she'd been in Milan and we figured with the Baby and the accident, Nikki could use a pick-me-up.
"Can you believe she's a mom?" Catie asked while Nikki took the baby upstairs
"I know, it's so weird but she's really into it, I mean I've never seen her so happy before" I said," So how long are you in town for?"
"A few days, i better go check into my hotel" Catie said standing up
"A hotel? you're leaving?" A voice said shrilly from up the stairs
"Yes, a hotel, you just had a baby..do you really want house guests?, I'll be back in the morning"Catie said
"Promise" Nikki said
"Yes, now haul your ass down here and give me some love" Catie said
"Pushy" Nikki said smiling coming down the stairs
"Yeah well an 11 hour flight will do that to a person" Catie said hugging Nikki and then leaving.
